I got an email from the HR department yesterday saying that my furlough period has been extended and will be reviewed next week so here we are going into week 4 of the furlough diaries!
I think it’s about time I get into the ‘swing’ of things a bit more now, obviously, the first two weeks of my furlough leave weren’t great as stress and anxiety were high but after last week I feel a lot more settled and that I should be making more of an attempt to have a daily routine.
Wednesday 29th April
I can’t even be mad at the weather today, look how beautifully the raindrops fell on the heuchera!
Aren’t they stunning? They almost look iridescent! They have all really filled out the past few weeks and have started to throw up their flower stalks too.
Needless to say not much gardening was done today other than planting out my sweetcorn and potting up my watermelon seedlings (not safe to plant them out yet)
I also made some teepees for my peas to grow up and another one for the watermelons to cling to when they are planted out.
Friday 1st May
Today has mainly been spent doing computer work but that doesn’t really make for good photos so instead here is a pic of the coleus I currently have growing as a cutting in water.
Then we have the pepper seedlings I have coming up in my ‘magic garden’ propagator, these took a bit longer to come up than I was expecting but hopefully they should take off as soon as they get their first set of true leaves.
These are the pretty sorry looking trailing lobelia plugs I received from Suttons today that I was hoping were going to make up my next hanging baskets, I somehow don’t think they’re going to cut it.
Luckily I have trays of plants I’ve grown from nursery cells that are maturing nicely so we’ll have to throw something together from them!
Saturday 2nd May
Not much to report today other than to show you this beautiful Petunia ‘Lightning Sky’ that bloomed today, it’s a new discovery for me because it’s been one of the last petunias to bloom….and it looks nothing like its plant tag!
Sunday 3rd May
Haven’t been up to too much today, we had a lay-in and then the day went by in a flash! Dean decided to treat himself to something for the garden today, it’s a bamboo bench which will be going near the new water feature, it should hopefully turn up in the next few days.
I spent the afternoon sorting through the fabric I got sent from @yorkshirefabricshop they sent me so many nice patterns that I’m spoilt for choice! I’ve ordered some cushion inserts so that I can make some snuggle beds for the dogs and some cushions for the garden benches.
Monday 4th May
I’m taking part in the #mygardenthismonth challenge over on Instagram and this was my post for today, the quote feels pretty fitting for the moment!
