I feel like March was a bit of a nothing month money wise (maybe it was just a bit of a nothing month in general?) maybe it’s because I don’t feel like I’ve got any big goals to focus on at the moment…am I having an existential money crisis?
Is it just because I feel a bit foggy headed from the cold and flu medicine I’ve been taking? I probably shouldn’t be writing blog posts intros in a Night Nurse haze…
These are all fairly self-explanatory costs but I’m going to explain some of the higher ones as.
Here is our Budget Report for March 2019
Income
Charlotte/Dean – This is the amount we both pay into the joint account each month from our wages.
Sidehustles – Any money made during the month that isn’t our usual income.
Everyday Rewards – This is a monthly bonus our bank pays if we hit certain criteria.
Sidehustles
BangOnBlanks – Just a small wage this month from BOB as we’ve been reinvesting in products and are saving up for either a potential move or building an office in our existing workshop.
BebeMakes – Etsy has started picking back up again this month after a quite start to the year, we’re working on lots of new products at the moment!
Matched Betting – This was all purely made through Free Spin offers that I found in emails or was told about by people such as Adam who is @MoneySavvyDaddy on Insta.
Rent/Utilities
Council Tax – This will be going up slightly from now on, I think its around £6 extra a month but April will be a bit of a bigger chunk (I think they space it out weird as we pay over 12 months) I know a lot of people complain about Council Tax rising but we have been promised that we are getting a local police force back patrolling our town from now on so I don’t mind if it’s funding that!
Envelopes
I’m going to be honest, I don’t know why this is all higher than it usually is. Groceries has been way off for the past few months anyway, that’s why were going back to cash envelopes in April but I’m not sure why the Dogs spending is higher and petrol just seems to be costing us more at the moment too. I’m going to be keeping a closer eye on these from now on.
Lifestyle
Cleaner – My favorite thing in the budget, I love her, she’s the best.
Train – Dean did some overtime this month so I had to catch the train home a few evenings.
Date Night – Didn’t even realise we didn’t have a ‘Date Night’ this month. I’ll be honest with you, when I say ‘Date Night’ I don’t mean like ‘Date‘ Night, I mean more of a – ‘we can’t be bothered to cook, there’s a film we both want to see shall I get changed out of my pj’s (because its only like 3pm on a Saturday anyway) and we just go out for dinner instead and see a film’ Night…maybe we should try being more romantic?
Misc – Umm… I think we bought some stuff from B&Q and maybe I bought some new work trousers? I’ll try and keep better track of that too from now on.
Insurance & Tax
Dog Insurance – I was not expecting this to work out like it did but basically the renewal for Fizz’s insurance was going to go up by £10 a month and since she is done having pups now we don’t need the same type of insurance. So, I found someone new to go with who is overall cheaper going forward BUT it seems they took their first payment AND they old company took their last payment at the same time so I ended up paying double insurance for the month? Next month will work out cheaper but then Lunas renewal is due so hers might go up and I don’t know where that will leave us overall.
Sinking Funds
It still feels odd to see so much going towards Savings/Sinking Funds each month but I’m so excited about how much we’re managing to put towards the Garden Makeover Fund – we should be starting work on it at the end of April!
Subscriptions
No change here, I am wondering if it’s worth me keeping HP Instant Ink though as I’ve not been printing as much from home lately.
