This is one of those months where I’m glad we’ve got sinking funds!
It was an expensive month mainly due to added costs from the dogs which was planned out already but there was also a bit of overspending in other categories, I say every month that I need to get a handle on the miscellaneous expenses and still haven’t quite got to grips with it yet, I think I need to add in more budget lines going forward.
These are all fairly self-explanatory costs but I’m going to explain some of the higher ones as.
You will notice that all these numbers are in $ instead of £’s this is because I use the EveryDollar website to do my budget and it’s meant for the US and Canada, the numbers are all the same so you can just ignore the $ prefix.
Here is our Budget Report for October 2018
Income
Rollover, Charlotte/Dean, Everyday Rewards – If you want to know a bit more about these you can have a look at my first Budget Report
Side hustles – I’ve made income from side hustle this month but have decided to leave it sitting in my business account as I have a few bits I’d like to pay for/re-invest it into in the coming weeks. This £22.50 is from the blog, I think I only took it out as I wanted to leave a round number in my other account (I know that’s very finnicky but I like my numbers like I like my oranges…round)
Transfer from Puppy SF – We had a sinking fund to cover expenses associated with the dogs pregnancies and preparing for the puppies which we transferred back into the main account this month. You’ll see where it was spent a bit further down.
Housing
Gas/Elec – We are now officially switched over to Bulb! It has been such a long process (due to OVO causing issues) but I’m glad its all done now and I got a free £50 bonus for switching so we’re already in credit.
Envelopes
Dogs – This was slightly higher this month as I bought worming treatment and a bit of extra food to put in the freezer for when the puppies arrive as the girls will eat nearly triple what they do now when they are feeding them.
Petrol – I think this is a bit higher than usual because I was doing a lot more trips in the car to and from the new workshop.
Misc – I think I need to start splitting this budget line out into more precise things as this included our anniversary meal, some new shoes for me and a haircut for Dean. This category can vary a lot each month, I think I’ll have to rethink it over the coming months.
Lifestyle
Cleaner – Spent a bit less here this month as cleaner was away on holiday for two weeks…I missed her.
Insurance & Tax
Still no changes here
Debt
Barclaycard – Paid a bit over the standard monthly minimum this month, nothing drastic just put a few extra payments on here and there throughout the month.
Zopa – This is the standard monthly minimum payment.
Savings
These are our Sinking Funds, they stay pretty much set at the same amount every month – have a look at my first Budget Report for a bit more info.
Fizzlepup
Herp Vacc – The girls are getting the Herpes Vaccination whilst they are pregnant to protect both them and the puppies once they are born, they had their first jab around 10 days after mating and this was for Fizzs second jab.
Whelping Kit – We already have a whelping crate and bits of kit for Fizz but because her and Luna are both having litters at the same time we’ve had to double up on stuff, some of the bigger bits are stuff we can resell at a later date if needed so I’m not overly concerned over the expense of buying them and we did have a sinking fund to cover it.
Public Liability Insurance – As people will be coming to our home to meet the puppies we need to have public liability insurance, it’s an expense we didn’t account for but the sinking fund covered it.
